While visiting with a friend of mine who works at Neiman Marcus last week, she invited me to a style show that was about to take place on the 3rd floor of NorthPark Neimans. Of course I said I would love to see it With a glass of white wine in hand I found a seat and enjoyed the show. It is always fun to sit next to someone you don't know who wants to make comments on each outfit. I love this because you get to see the show through her eyes as well as your own. As we watched the Elie Tahari fashions hosted by Ken Downing, we noticed different things about each outfit. The most noticeable trend is the pant. Not a skinny pant in sight!! This designer is all about the wide leg pant or the boot cut jean flaring below the knee. The biggest accessory is the SHOE. Strappy heels or ballet flats in animal prints or metallics along with the ankle boot are in for spring. Ken had all the models wearing flats with their pants but I really think it was because the models are soooo talll and any heel would have made the pant too short. A well fitting wide leg pant should only be 1/4 to 1/2 inch off the floor. This gives you a much longer, leaner look.
My new friend and I commented most on all the leather they were showing for spring. Beautiful soft, supple leather with cutouts or macrame details. We will be seeing a lot more leather in the fall. Leather vests, leather dresses, leather tops, leather jackets and all with a very 70's boho chic look. Long necklaces mixed with head scarves and boho earrings with a very fresh look made the audience buzz. No it wasn't the wine, it was the fashion!!
We also loved the skirts and walking shorts for summer. Colors of magenta pink were mixed with hot coral and peacock blue was mixed with jade green. The whole Elie Tahari line was polished with gorgeous fabrics and rich colors. Very Chic. I love to check these fashion shows and then find the look at a price that works for my budget.
Quote of the day:
The only rule is don't be boring and dress cute wherever you go. Life is too short to blend in.

Spring Forward
Daylight savings time has begun!!!! In my mind, it is offically spring now. I love it and I hope you do too but that means it is time to spring clean your closet. Out with the old, out of date, no longer worn, wrong size clothing and in with the freshness of spring. As we come out of the recession, we are seeing more color and lively prints. The colors of the season are coral-rose, honeysuckle pink, shades of blue from turquoise to navy and white. Whatever the color of the season is only buy it if it flatters your skin tones. Prints are everywhere and once again the designers have put horizontal stripes in all the fashion magazines. Sooo cruel of them to once again try to get us to put on something that makes us appear wider. "Just Sayin.." My favorite look is varying shades of white pulled together for super chic look.
Try to carve out some time this month to switch out your closet and make it fun....have a friend over and open a bottle of wine. If you want an honesty and the truth, call me.
Welcome Spring!!!
