Clean That Closet!!!

Upon returning home from three weeks of traveling, I have arrived to summer in Texas even though it is just April 18.  Temperatures are in the 80's and 90's already so it is time to change my closet from winter to summer.  If you are lucky enough to have a spring, it is time to bring some new spring colors in to your wardrobe and lose the turtlenecks and winter wool pants. You can see the new spring colors and styles on my previous blogs.
I tackled this project today.  As I began this process, I reminded myself of "the rules."  I put my hand on each item of clothing in my closet and ask 1. Do I Love It?  2. Is it flattering? 3. Does it project the image I want to portray?  Anything that didn't get a yes I decided if I wanted to take to a consignment store, donate, or put in a container to save for a garage sale at a later date.  Before I knew it, I had purged 4 shopping bags filled with clothes, purses and shoes.  It felt great.  I now know what I have, what I don't need to buy and what I need to fill in the blanks in my wardrobe. If you are like me, you tend to buy several of one kind of clothing.  For instance, I do not need to buy anymore yoga jackets.  I believe 6 is enough of that category.  I also discovered I need to add more color to my wardrobe.
One of the joys of changing seasons of clothing is discovering again your favorite clothes from last summer.
But before you can put them in your closet again you must remember the three rules we mentioned before even though you may have emotional attachments to a certain article of clothing.
If you feel you need back-up support for this closet purge,  open a bottle of wine and invite your most truthful friend over to help.  You can always call me and I will give you the unbiased truth of what you need to keep and WHAT NOT TO WEAR.
Let go, move forward, and set yourself free of what is not flattering to you.  Surround yourself with only what flatters you!!!
